The Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) is a premier youth and junior volleyball organization based in Southern California. The program is the combined effort of multiple distinct locations working in tandem with one another and boasts collectively more than 70 teams and 750 competitive athletes. Director of Operations Nabil Mardini and Director of Development Trevor Julian oversee the LAVA collective, both founding members of the organization as a whole.

LAVA ISLANDS (VENTURA, CA) — Based out of Ventura, California, LAVA Islands launched in summer of 2014 as a LAVA program boasting excellent staff members with deep ties to the Ventura volleyball community. LAVA Islands brings energy and a high standard of ethical behavior to the area as it strives to uphold the Three Core Values of LAVA — integrity, competitiveness, and passion. LAVA Islands fields a handful of teams annually across the various age divisions of the SCVA out of its primary locations at Ventura Missionary School, Ventura High School, and Buena High School. The Division Director of LAVA Islands is Nabil Mardini with assistance from Division Manager Billy Arnold.

LAVA Islands features an excellent coaching staff that includes long-time Ventura-area coaches Junior Mosones and Maurice “Shima” Shimabuku, plus long-tenured LAVA coach Nate Sparks and popular local coach Chris Hall for the Islands boys program. LAVA Islands adheres to a training regimen crafted by the LAVA principals, designed to help our coaches train their athletes to become the best players they can be. Our coaches are committed and knowledgeable, and our slate of offerings includes both full travel and non-travel options. In addition to competitive travel teams across the spectrum of age divisions for the regional SCVA tournament schedule, Islands also includes an extensive and very popular 12’s training program.

Club Tryouts for the 2016-2017 club season (click here for more info) will open on August 14 for the 15’s age group and on October 07 for the 11’s-14’s age groups.
